Bircher Muesli

I was in Year 8 when I first came across this recipe. My Food Science teacher labelled it "the healthiest breakfast in the world" and although this claim is certainly up for debate, there can be no arguing that Bircher Muesli is a great way to start the day.


2 cups Rolled Oats

1 cup Orange Juice

1 cup Natural Yoghurt

1/2 cup Crushed Almonds

1/2 cup Sultanas

1 cup Grated Apple


1. Into a plastic container, combine the oats and orange juice and mix until all of the oats are well soaked. Flatten the mix and place in the fridge overnight.

2. The next morning, add the yoghurt, grated apple, sultanas and almonds to the softened oat mix and gently mix until combined.

3. Serve a portion into the middle of your bowl and either enjoy immediately, or serve with a combination of your favourite additions including flavoured yoghurts, toasted muesli, and fresh fruits.

Bircher Muesli will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days.
